Reading to Learn in Science (RTLS)

The mission of the RTLS project is to increase middle-level science content learning by improving students’ ability to interpret science texts. At the website, teachers can access a comprehensive collection of resources to help make that happen, including information about the pedagogical basis for emphasizing literacy development in science education, the unique challenges posed by science texts, and effective classroom strategies to use before, during, and after reading instruction to develop and enhance students’ disciplinary literacy.
